Enable MFA for Your Profile
As a security best practice, you should configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your RunSignup account, especially if you are a race director. MFA is a great layer of additional security. The basic idea is that you in addition to your password, you use another device (typically your phone with an app) with a separate code that is generated every 30 seconds to verify your identity.
If your account password is ever compromised, MFA will make it more more difficult for someone to access your account.
Our MFA implementation requires the use of a MFA app. You will want to use one of the apps we support:
How to Enable MFA
- Login to your RunSignup profile.
- Click Show More at the top of your profile. It will show you the status of MFA on your profile. Click the MFA Disabled link.
- Click Set up MFA.
- Download one of the apps. Use your phone's camera to scan the barcode you see on your screen (not the example).
- The app will give you a 6-digit code that you will enter in the Code box to the right of the barcode.
Logging in with MFA
Whenever you login, you will now see a new field to enter the six-digit code. You will open the app in your phone and enter the new code in the box under password:
If you lose your token or get a new phone and forget to sync your MFA QR Code, you can click on "Reset MFA" and we will email you instructions.
