How to Transfer Event

If you registered for a Race that allows for Event Transfers but not sure on how to transfer your registration, then this article is for you!

How to Transfer Event Registration

If the Race you registered for enabled Event Transfers, then you can transfer your registration via Manage Registration.

The Transfer Event option can be found by logging on to RunSignup, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer Event. Depending on the Race page's theme, the Transfer Event option can be either located on the top of the page or on the left of the page. See screenshots below for reference.

On the Transfer Event page, you will be shown your Transfer Information. Please confirm the information is correct and accurate. You can confirm Transfer by clicking on the "Start Transfer" button.

Next, you will be shown the standard registration process where you can select the new event for this Transfer. Using the screenshots as reference, you can see that Phil is transferring from the 5K Walk/Run event to the 10K Walk/Run event. The 5k Walk/Run event will not be selectable since Phil is already registered for the 5k Walk/Run event.

This concludes the Transfer Event process. Once payment (if needed) is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email for the new event.

Some Important Notes

  1. You are only credited the amount paid for your current event. Using the example above, if Phil paid $20 for the 5K event and transfers to the 10K event which cost $25, Phil will be required to pay the difference of $5 + processing fee.
  2. If you are transferring to a cheaper event, you will not pay any additional standard fees (unless set by Race) for the Event Transfer. Additionally, the difference in pricing will not be refunded.
  3. If you are transferring to an event of equal value, you will not pay any additional standard fees (unless set by Race).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is my event registration not showing in my profile?

A: Below are some reasons why the Event is not showing under Upcoming Events:

  1. Your registration is associated with a sub-account of another user
    1. Someone registered you for a race using their account, so you were created as a sub-account. See here to learn how to transfer the registration to your existing account.
  2. Your registration was imported
    1. A lot of races will process entries manually. You just need to claim your uploaded account as described here
  3. You used a different email address to register
    1. You can merge accounts with different email addresses by following the guide here
  4. You did not complete your registration
    1. First look to see if you are registered on this race's "Find a Participant" page. If you still do not see yourself and have a charge on your credit card that has posted, please contact If you do not see yourself here, and you also have no charge on your account, then you are not yet registered.
  5. You registered under a typo
    1. If you find your registration on the race's "Find a Participant" page, but you don't see it under your account (and you have claimed ALL possible accounts as explained above), then you may have registered under a typo. Please contact

Q: Why do I not see this option?

A: Below are some reasons why you do not see Transfer Event as an option:

  1. This Race does not have this feature enabled for Participants.
    1. Please contact the race directly with any further questions by using the "Contact This Race" link at the bottom of the Registration Management page.
  2. This Race does not currently allow Participants to edit this portion of their Registration.

Q: How do I transfer my registered event if I paid offline (cash/check)?

A: If you registered offline, and paid your registration fee in person, then you will need to contact the Race directly for assistance.

Imported runners should not use the “Transfer to Another Event” option.

If you registered for the race offline, and you would like to transfer to another event, then you will need to contact the race directly, using the “Race Contact Info” section of the race page, or the Contact Race button.
